July 4th celebrations - July 6th 2024

KENNEL’S BEACH NEWS

May – June 2024

We had a beautiful Memorial Day weekend! Thanks to everyone that attended Sunday school and stayed for the KBIA meeting. Memorial Day weekend always kicks off our Summer where Sunday school will be held every Sunday until Labor Day weekend.  If you are visiting, please join us at the point each Sunday at 9:00am. Several volunteers have prepared inspirational messages, and they would appreciate your support!

Did you know KB Sunday School celebrates 50 years of summer services(established in 1974)?  On June 9th, we held a celebration of those years and Roy Brinson was the speaker. Thanks to all past & present teachers that have supported our riverside Sunday school services! And thank you to those who prepared food, special music, and recognition of the speakers that helped make this a wonderful celebration!

Treasury Report – submitted by Barbara Summerlin

General Fund: $27,696.57. Deductions: $2,429.21 swings (split with Sunday School), $3,200 waterfront dirt (Brinson), $2,950 waterfront wall repair(Prescott), $3,750 golf cart (July 4th fundraiser), $460.34 golf cart upgrades (seats, tires, windshield, mirror), $398.71 website, $600 DJ. $29.82 (concrete& rock), and approximately $234 for streetlights are paid monthly.

Bulkhead Fund: $8,718.90 (designated for new seawall replacement along the waterfront)

New Business:

KennelsBeach.com – new website is active! It has been designed with a donation button to give directly to the general fund. You can also find updated news and information here. Please check this site out!  Thanks to Keith Woodard for building this new communication tool!

• New swings were installed at the point. Thank you to those who help execute this project. They look great!

• Our annual July 4th event will take place Saturday, July 6th. Plans were discussed to make this a fun filled weekend.

o Jerry Woodard found a 2018 club cart for $3750 and made some wonderful upgrades making it look fabulous! Anyone would be thrilled to win this cart!

o Tickets have been printed and they are $2. (Thank you, Jerry). It is our biggest fundraiser of the season, and it all goes toward supporting the community. Tickets available for pickup across from the boat ramp.

o Money and tickets can be returned to Jerry Woodard, Kyle Pate, Adam Peedin, or Barbara Summerlin.

REMEMBER:

Golf carts are not allowed past the 55 speed limit sign by Rollo Road! Law enforcement contacted the Leary’s concerning golf carts traveling too far out from our community.  It is a privilege for us to be allowed to drive golf carts on the roads within Kennels Beach. But if they receive more complaints, we will be faced with losing this freedom.

Please be careful! Drive slowly and be alert! The speed limit is 35 entering the beach by the welcome sign. Then reduces to 25…and in the curve heading towards the waterfront, speed limit is 10 mph.
